Monthly building activity is split into total domestic, new dwellings and total non-domestic building activity.


 

Domestic building activity – City of Greater Geelong

Number and value of all domestic permits

A total of 363 domestic permits were issued in the City of Greater Geelong in July 2017, a decrease of 15.2% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 9.3% compared to July 2016.

The value of domestic permits in July 2017 was $79.1m, a decrease of 1.5% compared to the previous month yet an increase of 13.6% compared to July 2016.

Larger value permits of note for July 2017 were; Stage 2 of Gordon TAFE upgrade for $18m, Stages 13, 14, 15 to the 1-7 Malop St project for $15.5m, Stage 2 of the Avalon development for $14m, Deakin Uni Health project for $7m, Stage 3 of Armstrong Creek assembly building for $6m, New Clubhouse for City of Geelong Bowls club for $4.2m, Stage 4 of special development school in Hamlyn Heights for $4m, Additions and alterations to showrooms for $2m, Works at Bellerine College Drysdale for $1.7m, 12 unit development in Whittington for $1.4m, A Motel in Ocean Grove for $1.3m.

Number and value of new dwelling approvals

A total of 196 new dwelling approvals were issued in the City of Greater Geelong in July 2017, one less and a decrease of 0.5% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 11.3% compared to July 2016.

The value of new dwelling approvals in July 2017 was $60m, the same as both the previous month and July 2016.

Non-domestic building activity – City of Greater Geelong

Number and value of non-domestic building permits

A total of 62 non-domestic building permits were issued in the City of Greater Geelong in July 2017, an increase of 44.2% compared to the previous month and the same as July 2016.

The value of non-domestic building permits was $84.9m in July 2017, an increase of 81.7% compared to the previous month and an increase of 158.8% compared to July 2016.
